- A $25 deposit is required to secure bookings
- We welcome requests from artists of any dance form / body based practices who meet the eligibility criteria
- Studios are equipped with Marley flooring; tap and flamenco shoes are permitted in select studios, subject to availability

In response to the critical need for affordable rehearsal spaces in Toronto, this project aims to lay the foundation for TDT’s studios to be used more frequently by artists who traditionally face financial barriers in accessing dance space. Each participating artist will be invited to complete a survey at the end of their rental, allowing their valuable feedback to shape future models for renting TDT spaces in better supporting independent artists.

Expanding on our existing support programs for Toronto dance artists, TDT's Open Door Project is a pilot initiative that provides subsidized studio rental hours, funded through the Toronto Arts Council / Open Door grant program.

This project offers artists who identify as belonging to TAC’s priority groups, and/or artists currently working on a project without or little funding to book TDT’s studios at a reduced rate of 10$ per hour.

Studio bookings are available in 2-4 hour blocks and are intended for rehearsal processes only. No classes.

Each participating artist may book a maximum of 24 hours over the 2026/27 season.

Participants are required to complete a follow-up survey regarding studio access, availability, and associated costs they experience as a dancer/choreographer in Toronto.
